Although trained in figurative art and life drawing, Mary’s work is mostly abstract as she considers it less restrictive and an art form that gives full reign to her imagination and creativity.
Her work is versatile and is influenced by impressionism, cubism, indigenous art as well as images observed under the microscope and through the telescope.
One of her specialties is transforming furniture items she finds on kerbsides into artworks. Chairs (big or small), coffee tables, mirrors, desks and flyscreens, all get a second – and colourful – lease of life.
