Mary Lewin
Mary was trained in figurative art and life drawing, but her work is mostly abstract as she considers this art form less restrictive. Since 2010 she held solo exhibitions and participated in a many others.
Her work is versatile and is influenced by impressionism, cubism, indigenous art as well as images observed under the microscope and through the telescope.
One of her specialties is transforming furniture items she finds on kerbsides into artworks. Chairs (big or small), coffee tables, mirrors and fly-screens, all get a second – and colourful – lease of life.
